Practice Tolasana Pose so your Lotus can fly!
If you’re a fan of Lotus Pose or Padmasana, then you may be ready to get your Lotus off the ground and fly. Tolasana or Scale Pose is essentially an arm balance while maintaining Lotus Pose. Before trying Tolasana you should be very comfortable with Lotus Pose.
The major benefits of Tolasana Pose include strengthening the arms, shoulders and wrists. This pose will also provide a great opportunity to learn about engaging your core and bandhas. Like so many poses, Tolasana will also help your focus, concentration and breath control.
Lotus Pose, Hero Pose and Bound Angle Pose can act as good prep poses for Tolasana.
Major Tips: As mentioned, develop a strong Lotus Pose before moving on to Tolasana. Make sure to warm up and open your hips. It’s also a good idea to warm up the core with postures like Boat Pose. If you can’t lift off the floor, you can place blocks underneath your hands. It is beneficial to have longer arms for this posture.
