Grasshopper Pose

Grasshopper Pose

It's pretty safe to say that Grasshopper Pose is one of the more mysterious yoga postures! Why is it mysterious, you ask?

Well, upon first glance it can be a little difficult to figure out what body part goes where in order to achieve the pose. It sort of looks as if body parts are totally going where they certainly don't belong, there's a whole lot happening with a simple little Grasshopper Pose.

Grasshopper is part arm balance, part hip opener, and part twist! Needless to say, that's quite a list of stuff to keep track of while hanging out in any yoga pose.

The pose also causes quite a bit of confusion because of it's many names. It's common to hear Grasshopper referred to as Revolved Flying Pigeon, DragonFly, or Hummingbird. There's also an easier version of the pose called Baby Grasshopper.

If you decide to add Grasshopper to your practice, be patient! It's a bit of a power pose and offers a challenge!
